Message for Highlands Families

An important message for HMS and HHS students:

We are just a few days away from the first day of school. If you have not used your MacBook in a while, you should fully charge it and ensure that it is in working condition at this time. Attached to this message are steps you should follow to prepare your MacBook for the new school year.

Summer Help Desk by Appointment Only
If you are having any issues with your district MacBook, you only have four remaining days that you can make an appointment for the Summer Help Desk. Use the link below to make an appointment for August 8, 9, 10, or 16. The Help Desk will not be available August 11-15 due to staff development. Do not assume that enough loaners will be available if you wait until school begins to visit the Help Desk as we have a limited number available.

Cases and Care
It is a requirement that all Highlands students have a case on their MacBook. The link below provides general information about MacBook care, chargers, and cases. The model number of your MacBook can be found at the bottom of the linked page. The MacBook's model number will assist you with locating an appropriate case.


Device Insurance
Beginning with 2022-2023, MacBooks are covered for up to two instances of accidental damage per school year. This policy applies provided the annual Technology Fee has been paid and the student had a case on the MacBook at the time of the damage. However, students will be charged the full price of repair if the damage was intentional, due to neglect, or it is a third instance in the same school year. Please note that screen damages cost a few hundred dollars to repair - Do not close your MacBook with anything inside of it and do not drop your backpack with the MacBook inside!!! Liquid damage repairs are close to the price of a full MacBook replacement!  Keep all liquids far away from your keyboard!!!
